‘Just the Facts’ With Tom The Architect
Tom The Architect has started a new category of his site called Just The Facts, where he compiles all of the facts from articles and just lists them. His first project distills all of the real content from the New York Times article A Retail Revolution Turns 10.
This is the kind of reporting I like. Give me the real stuff and get rid of the fluff — and save me those damn subscription fees.
Quite frankly, I was amazed at some of the facts listed and I really like this feature. Keep it up Tom. I’m finally learning something on the Internet!

Potential for a Great Concert Weekend
As mentioned earlier, Night Ranger is playing at the McHenry Fiesta Days on Friday night. On Saturday, we are thinking about heading out to the Beloit River Fest where the Saturday line-up includes AlterBridge and Collective Soul.
The kids, for some reason, hate AlterBridge (or really anything having to do with Creed), so it should be a lot of fun watching them tortured throughout the evening listening to “the parents” music.
I’ll try to get pictures so everyone can share in the experience …

Experimenting with Themes Again
I’m experimenting with themes again this morning. This one is based off of Minima Plus, with some customization.
I’m still not real happy with the sidebar, but I’ll continue to work on it. I get bored with the look of the site very quickly, and quite frankly, I didn’t like the color scheme of the last theme and was too lazy to muck around with it. I also like the simplicity of this one. It doesn’t take away from the content and looks less busy.
Ribfest 2005 in Naperville
Today we spent most of the day at Ribfest 2005 in Naperville, IL after Jonna had seen something about it on the news. We had a great time and have a bajillion pictures on Flickr to document the occasion.
I would say the best ribs that we had throughout the day were the ribs from Sgt. Oinks Pit BBQ. More meat than any ribs I have ever had. The best BBQ sauce, however goes to Desparado’s “Hotter than ‘H'”. Excellent sauce. So good, we bought a bottle.
Ribfest is a hell of a place to spend the day. Great food, good bands — and some really big signs.
Unfortunately, we were unable to stick around for Ted Nugent, who was playing at 8:30 this evening. Oh well, maybe next year!
Update: July 4, 2005
One thing I forgot to mention last night is that ABC TV was walking around Ribfest interviewing people for the show Wife Swap. It was actually pretty comical watching the guys eyes glaze over as he asked us what we thought was interesting about our family and we just kind of stood there looking at each other.
I don’t think we’ll be getting a call back.
Update: July 11, 2005
We actually did get a call back. Jonna returned the call, but then they didn’t call back. So, technically, isn’t that like not getting a call back at all?
A Lazy Day at Navy Pier
A picture of the boats in Lake Michigan off of the edge of the pier.
Jonna and I spent yesterday at Navy Pier just walking around, listening to music, and enjoying the occasional cocktail — along with our regular stop at Bubba Gumps for lunch.
Even with the Taste of Chicago going on and all the people around, you really can’t get a more relaxing day than hanging out at Navy Pier.
Included in the pictures taken during our time there is our homage to a picture Tom the Architect took of his Diet Coke w/ Lemon. The picture is of an excellent Margarita complements of Chango Loco Mexican Cantina.
I have named the picture "Margarita w/ Lime".
The agenda today includes a viewing of George Romero’s new movie Land of the Dead which is getting a 73% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I’ll post a review later today (or maybe later this week).
