DRM Crippled CD: A bizarre tale in 4 parts

This article on The Big Picture tells a bizarre story about DRM crippled CDs. This actually hits home for me as over the weekend I found that the new G3 – Live In Tokyo CD (Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and John Petrucci) came out and is also DRM protected. iTunes only has the partial album – no Petrucci. Disappointing. This story is a pretty interesting read and shows how rediculous this copy protection thing is and how petty one company can be.
New and Improved Diary of an Axeman Site

The Diary of an Axeman site, a tribute site to Randy Rhoads, has been redesigned. I have to say, it looks great! The downloads section has been updated with a performance of Crazy Train from Chicago’s Rosemont Horizon from January of 1982.
Frank Zappa Catalog Available on iTunes
I hit Dahl.com this morning and saw an ad on the site about the Zappa catalog being available on iTunes.
I hit Google News to see if I could find some announcements on this, but came up empty. I then did a Google search and found tons of references to it, mostly on web logs.
My Google search did, however hit something else as well. Over on Zappa.com, I found this proposal, written by Frank himself, for a service for making available back catalog items via digital download (over cable).
I found this really interesting. Just another example, I guess, of how far ahead of his time this guy was.
