Ship It! A Practical Guide to Successful Software Projects Reviewed
The guy at Musings of a Software Development Manager talks about a recent book he’s reading called Ship It! A Practical Guide to Successful Software Projects. Its interesting how Scrum can be related to both The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity.
The book sounds interesting. I’ll have to pick it up.
‘Just the Facts’ With Tom The Architect
Tom The Architect has started a new category of his site called Just The Facts, where he compiles all of the facts from articles and just lists them. His first project distills all of the real content from the New York Times article A Retail Revolution Turns 10.
This is the kind of reporting I like. Give me the real stuff and get rid of the fluff — and save me those damn subscription fees.
Quite frankly, I was amazed at some of the facts listed and I really like this feature. Keep it up Tom. I’m finally learning something on the Internet!
Re-edit of the Original Podcast
This morning, since I woke up extra early, I re-edited the first podcast I posted on July 10, to remove some dead air and some microphone pops.
I found that the setup I have works fine and that the room hum in the background was a vent around the area of Kelsi’s room where I recorded it. When I’m not right next to it, it doesn’t make that noise! I’ve also figured out how to use the Stereo-Mix option of Audacity to be able to record songs I play through an mp3 player and get them in the mix. All really cool stuff.
Now I just need something to talk about so that I be a part of the ‘podcasting club’…
